3 steps to distinguish your e-Sax

Step1: Check the design of the electronic module.

The model code of brand-new e-Sax can be easily distinguished with the design of electronic module. If your e-Sax has the module of Fig.1, that Model Code is ES-AS. If Fig.2 is on your e-Sax, the Code is either ES2-AS or ES-TS. Finally, Fig.3 is the latest and current design and the Code is ES3-AS or ES2-AS.

Step2: Check the metronome function.

In case of online or mail order, it might be hard to distinguish the e-Sax without actually looking at the module design. Then, ask if the e-Sax has a metronome function or not. If it has a metronome function, the e-Sax is either ES2-AS or ES-TS. If not, ES3-AS or ES2-TS. (In fact, ES-AS is almost impossible to find in a brand-new condition.)

Step3: Check the ‘Connecting cable’.

If the e-Sax comes with a connecting cable, that is the latest model ES3-AS or ES2-TS.

Functional differences

Differences between e-Sax Alto and e-Sax Alto TypeⅡ

e-Sax Alto was sold from October, 2005 to October, 2007. Since then, all the Alto models are called e-Sax Alto TypeⅡ. e-Sax Alto TypeⅡ has a larger body compared to the ‘Alto’, and because of this, playability of low registers were improved. Also, new and flexible material is adopted to the Hand Packing, so the operability got much more comfortable.

Differences between ES2-AS and ES3-AS.

First of all, please note that both ES2-AS and ES3-AS are ‘e-Sax Alto TypeⅡ’. Although the latest version ES3-AS does not have a metronome function, the new energy saving design achieves much longer battery life about three times as ES2-AS, and the echo level can be adjusted seamlessly with the slide dial. Additionally, the newly attached connecting cable, which comes with ES3-AS and ES2-TS, makes the practice even more fun.

About e-Sax Tenor

The difference between ES-TS and ES2-TS is exactly same as above. There is no e-Sax Tenor TypeⅡ.
